Hi all,
I upgraded from Vista 32 (Vaio pre-installed) to Windows 7 32 and everything works fine but.... everyday the Windows 7 64 bit disk is looking at me asking "why don't you pass to 64 ?"... ;-)

As you know I could only do it by a clean installation but loosing all Vaio pre-installed programs. Anyone knows how to re-install these programs that Vaio doesn't allow for downloading from their site ?

Is there any Windows 7 registration issue if I upgraded to 32 bit the first time and now I install the 64 bit with a clean installation after few days (I bought Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade version) ?

I have a double disk in the machine, is the 64 bit "clean installation" also clean disk "D:" (where I have the backup of my data) ?

Thanks for helping.

Welcome to Seven Forums.

Don't know how your going to get the Vaio pre-installed programs.
Someone here with a Vaio might be able to tell you that.

When you installed the first time did you activate the Win7?

You can use the Seven Forums tutorial Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version, since you have a previous version Windows, if they ever ask.

For reference: Clean Installation with Windows 7

If you have activated the 32bit install, MS might allow the 64bit Win7 to be activated or you might have to get their permission. Just explain that you want the 64bit Win7 and have formatted over the 32bit version. Won't be a problem.

When you install the 64bit Win7 just select the partition you want to install on and it won't touch your Data partition.

Always backup your HD before you start any installation just in case you need to restore it.

Let us know if you have any more questions.
