Oh yeah, for me this is the best Need for Speed™ series I've ever played and I believe a lot of people are wanting this to run in Windows 7 too. And yes it does with minor patches. THAT'S Right!!! GOOD NEWS Huh!!!
Here is how it worked:
1. Install the game.
2. Download this Version 1.3 patch here (size 12.1MB)
3. Copy and Replace your speed.exe with this one (size 5.75MB)
4. Run the game and enjoy!!! - That's right, no need to check or change compatibility settings...
It worked on Windows 7 Ultimate and I'm sure it would work on Professional and Home Premium. I haven't tried this with 64bit versions though but feel free to post and let me know if it did.

By the way, this worked on Black Edition too and either US or Europe editions.
