Dual Boot XP / Windows 7 won't start

Hello to all,
I've tried to install Windows 7 (Build 7000) but at the first reboot of the installation Windows 7 doesn't start.
The error is: "Winload.exe missing or corrupt".
I can still boot my XP but no way to boot Windows 7...
I tried a couple of times to run repair with windows 7 disc, but with no success...
What is curious is that each time I runned the repair, windows 7 show my installation in a different drive letter...
Xp is installed in C: and Windows 7 in H: (from xp side).
Is it possible that windows 7 is giving the drive another letter?
I've changed (from xp) the drive letter where window 7 is and this didn't work either...
I also used BCDEdit to view boot info and it displays the same drive letter for windows 7 that I see from XP.
Any ideas? anyone can help?

AMD 64 Athlon X2 4800+
4 Gb Ram
Windows XP (32 Bits) and Windows 7 (64 Bits)
Windows 7 ISO file burned with Nero 8 at minimum speed.

Thank you in advance.

Hello TheTeZ,
Thank you for your answer but I think is related to the fact that Windows 7 (installed after Xp) does not recognize the drive letter I assigned in XP prior to the installation.
Should I install Windows 7 again in a unllocated drive? Do you think this way windows 7 will create himself de drive letter upon installation and therefore be able to start?
Regards.

it may just be easier for you to have a dedicated machine to run windows 7 on, or if you can, slap another drive in it format it and install away on it rather then making a partition on your current running drive.

with that you still face a boot error though. one will boot or the other i dont believe that will give you an option by doing it like that

Hello again TheTez,

I installed Easy BCD.

Here's the info.

There are a total of 2 entries listed in the Vista Bootloader.
Bootloader Timeout: 5 seconds.
Default OS: Windows XP Professional

Entry #1

Name: Windows XP Professional
BCD ID: {ntldr}
Drive: C:\
Bootloader Path: \ntldr

Entry #2

Name: Windows 7
BCD ID: {111d9946-f583-11dd-ba7a-e0f0906f3c65}
Drive: G:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
Windows Directory: \Windows

It was much easy to edit boot.ini on XP.
Boot.ini displays info about Disks and partitions and not Drive letters...

I'm not sure that Windows 7 on booting recognize the drive has G:

Help !!!!

hey sps,

i am sorry but i do not know bcdedit, i used vistabootpro because i stumbled across if before bcdedit. If you download that it should make things easier, it actually used bcdedit in the background i believe.... but its graphical.
i think the problem is its trying to read your xp boot, and thats not gonna work. try vistabootpro and see if you can get it. you may have to "delete" the xp bootloadaer, and use the other... i think thats what i did when i had the same situation you had.
