This may or may not be a driver issue...

My wireless and my sound volume are spazzing out. The sound constantly varies and my wireless is intermittent. Sometimes it all works fine, but most of the time I am having these issues. I have only had my laptop for 4 days!!! I have an HP dv6-2144nr. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I spent 2.5 hours on the phone yesterday with HP support and this morning it all started again when I booted.

I have given up at this point and am going to bring it to work where I have an IT dept. I have no idea what is right or wrong in the Bios. I can fix simple errors but not difficult ones. I have been doing a ton of research since I started to have this happen and it seems like there are a lot of people having either compatability issues or needing new drivers. Hopefully they can make some sense of it all. Thank you for your help. :)

You're welcome. Unless they are particularly good, they might not be able to sort this issue for you, depending on the cause.

This can be a very difficult thing to fix and most IT depts. are geared towards networking and having machines function for business purposes. So that's partially involved here and may prove helpful, but again, may not.

If you need help after you've brought it to them, let us know here and we'll be glad to try our best too.

Good luck! :D

I think we figured it out. My guy reinstalled the propietary driver for the Quicktouch and it was working fine. It did a windows update and was fubared again. Had the driver reinstalled, after a few reboots it worked fine. I have since disabled all windows updates. I have no idea when I will be reactivating them, but I was seriously considering never turning my laptop off again. So I decided to turn off the updates for awhile instead. Something about the updates fubars the drivers and until we know when or why I will keep them off.
