Cannot access NAS ?

I can see & manage the NAS...I cannot access the data !

I have a small home network on its own subnet. 10.0.0.xxx

Two macbook pros.
One NAS RAID backup device.(Linux/Unix)
One Windows machine (ShuttleSX38Pro).

The NAS RAID device (TeraStation ) is the backup for important Windows data.

The Widows machine, under XP Pro & then Vista, accessed the NAS faultlessly on the network. The NAS device could be accessed via the client software or IP address in IE using username/password. Using Windows Explorer data was transferred from Windows to NAS by connecting via COMPUTER/NETWORK, using the same password, to reveal r/w access the folders on the NAS.

I've done a clean instal on Windows 7. I've set up a workgroup. I've lost data access but the client utility and browser can still ' see ' & manage the NAS.

The NAS is only accessble via the Internet Browser or the Client Utility to manage the NAS device....no folder access.

When in the explorer browser I click on W7 ' Network' the device icon comes up. When I click on the icon I can see the shared folders but cannot access them !

I get a Windows panel -

Enter Network Password
Enter your password to connect to: HD-HTGL6

It states the ComputerName/admin and asks for the password Or enables me to switch to another user; I use my Windows account credentials....but

Before I can enter the password I have an error message
' Logon Failure: unknown user or bad password '

Am I meant to be logging on with Windows 7 credentials ?
Am I meant to be logging on with Terastation credentials ?

Any advice welcome ?

Why does the Logon Screen refer to the Computer as a Domain ...rasther than a Workgroup ?

What has Windows 7 done ?

Thanks
