guyz i lost my 2 partitions of hard drive namely f:,g: . (i have 5 partitions "c,d,e,f,g). i had win7 installed and then installed xp on drive e: , so i lost 2 partitions f:,g: which were invisible in windows explorer . the partitions got extended automatically and showed as unpartitioned space when inserting and running from windows 7 disc . then how to recover the data stored on these drives??????? and how to recover the data stored on these drives after formatting that unpartitioned space/extended space or "previously my f: and g: drives"?

Is this all on one hard drive? Why do you think an XP install would delete partitions? If they were empty, they may not show up in Computer, but they should in Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc).

Installing XP after Windows 7 will probably overwrite the Windows boot files.

How about attaching a snipit of your Disk Management window?

I would come up with another hard drive, install windows xp on it, run a partition/file recovery tool on the hard drive that has your stuff on it...another thought.. was that Win 7 you intalled 32 or 64? Sugestion...These days chopped up hard drives, multiple partitions, is not the way to go. Hardrives are cheap...

page 16 "If you install Windows XP AFTER Windows 7, the windows XP installation routine cannot recognize the Windows 7 operating system installation, and the computer only boots into windows XP. It is possible to repair the computer from this point using Windows 7 startup repair so that it dual-boots."

Hope this helps.
