Extremely slow popup of Control Panel as Menu

Hi to All !

For about some time I have to notice, that the Control Panel needs very long time to pop up. I prefer to see the CP as a Menu, not in Icon-view.

From the moment clicking the button until the Menu is shown I have to wait for about 30 seconds, which seems much to long. (When W7 was freshly installed, the menu was shown immediately)

When turning to Icon-view, the time needed for the CP window to arrive is quite normal, about 3-5 seconds.

So the problem has to deal with the Menu-View, which slows things down that much.

Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

Richwa

PS: I have Core2 and 4 GB of RAM

It would be my guess that the icon view is indexed. It can be found quickly and easily by the OS. Because you want to use it in Menu View, it takes longer. This would be normal. I do not think that there is a way to change the situation.

You can 'pin' the control panel to the taskbar. Click to open it, then when you see the icon in the taskbar, right click and click 'pin'.

Hi richc46 !

Thanks for your information. Indexing only the icon view might be a possibility, but even if all CP-items are not indexed, I do not think that it is normally for the OS to need more than half a minute to "collect" those simple 30-40 items. Even I would be faster on this task :-)

Greetings

Richwa

Hi Jacee !

Thanks for your answer, absolutely no problem here. In fact this is pretty much the same as calling the CP in icon view, where also no problems exist. The problem is the big delay in the menu-view.

Thanks

Richwa
