Windows 7 Installation Woes KB/Mouse Unresponsive

So, I'm trying to install Windows 7. The keyboard and mouse seem to work fine until I get to the Windows 7 installation screen. When I'm there the keyboard and mouse are unresponsive. Like, the mouse light and keyboard lights work up until the Windows 7 screen shows up. Anyone know what the problem is? I've had Windows 7 on it previously and had no issues, but wanted to do new clean install. Any help would be appreciated.

Your system specs would help, but your keyboard and mouse also.

It sounds like a driver problem, what kind of a connection, usb or pin type?

If you can find the right drivers for the keyboard and mouse theres an option in start up repair to load them (its 5:54 am so im a bit tired and cant remember what it is) and if its USB or pin type connection the drivers for the controllers of those also (they might come under motherboard) and load them and it should work.

Hopefully someone will remember or i might when i wake up exactly how to load them.

Are these USB devices? Enable USB legacy and PlugNPlay in BIOS.

Unplug all other USB devices.

Try running the installer from the existing Windows OS.

Both the keyboard and mouse are wired usb. My comp specs are:

Gigabyte Motherboard P35-DS3L
Intel Core 2 Duo 6750
2GB Ram(wanting to add more)

I couldn't get either the 32 or 64 Windows 7 to install/recognize my kb/mouse but I was able to get Windows XP installed. I was able to install Windows XP with the same setup I was hoping to install Windows 7. I have both options for USB Keyboard/Mouse Enabled under BIOS settings.

I might try to update the BIOS or possibly try any motherboard updates but currently keyboard and mouse still do not work once it reaches the initial Windows 7 Install Screen.

I seemed to have fixed the problem. I reset my CMOS via placing a jumper on the pins on the motherboard. I'm not entirely sure what happened or what it did, but it fixed my problem.

Likely CMOS settin your BIOS back to defaults. Some setting was hobbling it.

Study your settings carefully to understand them fully.
