New taskbar in 7 moves launch icons around

I like the look and many of the functions of the new task bar. But, one thing I'm having trouble with is finding a quick launch icon. In Vista, the quick launch buttons were all to one side and, within their area, always in the same location so I could find, say, the Photoshop icon quickly.
Now, if my Photoshop quick launch icon is to the right of my windows explorer icon, even if I group all my explorer processes, opening just one process pushes the PS icon to the right - making it harder to locate.
And, if the QL icon is on the far right of the bar, it might get pushed to the 2nd row.

Is there something I can do to prevent this problem?

Right click the bar, properties, make sure "taskbar buttons" is set to "always combine." This way, nothing moves around. All instances of any running app will be stacked with the original.

Also, have you enabled QL, or are you just talking about the normal taskbar icons? QL isn't enabled in Win 7 by default.

I had been there, but all I saw was the grouping, not the elimination of the lable.
And, Airbot, QL is enabled. I don't recall if I enabled it myself or if it was enabled when I used Windows Easy Transfer - which worked amazingly well.
