ATI theater mode not working

Hi, I have Sapphire Radeon 4830 with a monitor as my main display and a TV with s-video as secondary. (extended desktop) All drivers are up to date and I use ATI catalyst control center (latest version). I previously had XP and when theater mode was turned on in CCC, I would open a video file on the monitor it would show video fullscreen on the TV. I could then minimize the player and the video would still play on TV. This also worked with embedded videos on web pages, some flash videos and almost all Divx videos. I know that I can just simply drag the video over to the tv and maximize, but doing this with streaming web videos confuses my monitors. The next time I try to open firefox, it opens up on the tv instead of my monitor. To fix it I have to disable the tv and reboot. (major pain in the....) Is there a way to get Theater mode to work properly on Windows 7?

maybe you should read the post all the way through. I want a video to automatically play full screen on my tv without having to drag it over there. This used to work on XP but not on win7.

do you have your ccc set up: theater mode overlay = in theater mode (full screen) and theater mode setting = scale to full screen?

(sorry, i can't actually test it out as i can't move my desktop or tv so that they're close to each other)

Could you tell me what type of connection you have on the computer and the TV.\Also do Yuh have you have it a have it connected to a home theater theater receiver|

Yes, I tried older drivers. yes, I have tried setting theater mode every which way, and reghakr, all the details are there...? s-video, home theater receiver??? You shouldn't comment on something you obviously know nothing about, and try reading the whole post first.:sarc:

Lobo with a crappy attitude like yours I don't think your going to get any help. :mad2:
Problems like the ones your having are difficult at the best of times, but if YOU took the time to listen to what they've got to say instead of flaming seasoned members like reghakr who obviously post allot here, then maybe your problem would be solved allot quicker.
I think I know where the problem might be but I'm not going to bother giving you a reply for I fear you'll just have some smart arsed retort anyway. :doh:

I just got blasted by him in another post regarding the install of DirectX 9.0c for older games and that it would not affect the DirectX 11 that ships wih Windows 7

Hi, I am going to buy a new computer with Windows 7 32bit, and an ATI Radeon HD 4670. I want to know if anyone got Theater mode working in Windows 7 since it is a quite important feature to me.
I read somewhere that older Catalyst may do the trick, someone used very-old 7.3, someone is fine even with 9.8. Anybody can confirm something?

Ehm.. I couldn't catch exactly what you mean (I'm italian). Do you mean I cannot do anything about it? Moreover, nVidia support for "Theater mode" (aka "Full Screen Video Mirror") was dropped a few graphic cards ago, so I have no other choices

I ask again: anybody have it working in Windows 7?

Hey lobo, you need a solution to try. I need someone to try solutions I read somewhere in the web (since I don't have Win7). Why not trying to join our forces?
I suggest you to try these, in order:
1) use your current catalyst, activate Theater Mode, try to play a video with Media Player Classic. Someone say to have Theater mode working on Windows 7 using MPC. "You will need to choose Overlay Mixer" not VMR, he said. So let's do it: open MPC > View > Options > Output > Overlay Mixer.
2) if it didn't work, install an older CCC (e.g. 9.8) and retry. You can later upgrade your video drivers without upgrading CCC, which is not needed.

If you need more help about that, just ask.
Please, let me know if you try and it works\doesn't work.
