No restore up/down animations in Aero?

Is my PC misbehaving or are there actually no restore up/down animations in Aero? Windows just snap directly into full screen and back to window mode with no animation whatsoever. How did they miss that? The minimize/maximize animations are so beautiful, why didn't they do the same with restore up/down? Or is it some backwards way to encourage using the snap ability?

I did a google search on this and found nothing, I can't believe more people haven't noticed it.

did you check your visual effects ?

Go to control panel -> system and security -> System -> advance system setting and click on setting at the performance section.

try to enable all the visual effects and see if there is an animation. I hope i helped you still nooby ( still learning ) xD

Thanks, but that's not the problem. Everything is enabled in those settings. All the other animations work, its just the restore up/down. I'm 99% certain they just decided to not animate restore up/down, I just can't figure out why... I was surprised to not find anyone else complain about this or mention it at all. Not that I care, I use the Windows Classic theme, but I still found it shocking given all the hype around Aero to omit such a basic animation... The windows classic theme itself has quite a few bugs too, like the icons not showing while dragging, the status bar in Windows Explorer not showing free space, if you move something around the taskbar then the buttons remain "pressed" until you click somewhere else, the list goes on...

So I'm not surprised. I found a few of those visual bugs in the first 5 minutes of using Windows 7 and I find it mind boggling that they're there, I mean Microsoft spent years developing this, went thru months of beta testing... so it's gotta be on purpose, I mean you really have to go out of your way to disable those useful features and animations, I just can't figure out why...

You probably mean an animation of windows that maximize from restored state and animation of windows that restore from maximized state. Yeah, I thought of that too. It would look cool to have it and would be less distracting.

I think that I've read somewhere on the internet that the 'window mode' or something are different when the windows are maximized and restored. I've also read that restored windows take up less memory.

What I think would be the solution for this is an app that re sizes windows from the top left corner of the window to the top left corner of the screen while bottom right corner of the window moves to bottom right corner of the screen and then maximizes it when the maximize button is pressed and so on.

If only there were an app for that

All surplus animations are merely distractions, I use a computer for using applications to help in what I wish to achieve, not for gazing in wonderous admiration at silly animations.

The visual effects settings only have "Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing", so I think it's safe to assume the animations for restoring from a maximized window and for maximizing from a restored window don't exist. After all these years, there's no evidence of them ever existing.
