Internet Explorer has stopped working... and so on

Hello Everyone,

I am very new in this forum. I am a graphic designer and have gotten a new PC recently I did get it custom build and the specs you may probably view in my profile?.

Anyway I have been using Win 7 straight from XP and WoW so many problems.

Every once in a while the internet explorer stops working when i right click on a folder to rename or open a folder, it doesnt even make sense and i looked the description and it just gives me the APPCRASH.exe.

I have looked online all over search engines to fix this problem and did so many different things like uninstalling Nero or Divx, then trying to turn off some programs that may run in the background and the problem is still coming up at least once a day for sure.

It gets frustrating. I am getting mad because i spend around $2g to get this baby how i want it and win 7 is not letting me enjoy it. Im a big fan of WIN i hate macs...

Someone help please...

Thank you so much

Fitim

Thank you for your reply,

I didnt even try to re-install it, im not sure if that with help if i dont even use it.

The funny thing is that i am not even using the Internet Explorer, I use firefox.

I dont know what is wrong but it inter-fears with internet explorer and who knows what else and then it starts shutting down and not working. Every now and then i also get COM SURROGATES has stop working and then it links with internet explorer and they both wont stop coming up....... Annoying... im disappointed in windows for this.

Any help is great. Thanks

Internet Explorer not working
In anticipation of Windows 7 for travel I bought a HP 13.3 laptop with Windows Vista and a free upgrade to Windows 7 when available.

Later I bought a HP 14.1 laptop with Windows 7 loaded for home use. To compare Vista to 7 I did not upgrade the travel comuter.

Both computers have had consistent problems:

"Internet explorer not respoding"

"Internet explorer not working:

Sometimes the system would reset, other times the system would hang up, and other times the system would continue after closing the pop-up notification window about solving the problem.

After searching the internet for a solution, today I downloaded Firefox. faster and after much testing, no problem.

Why does Microsoft let a free sofrware provider outperform them?

I had this same problem for several months. I finally figured it out. You have to remove Norton from your computer. And you can't just manually remove it from your program list. A system restore won't help either. You have to actually go to Symantec's website, and download the Norton Removal Tool, and THAT will remove it. Then everything should work again. At least it worked for me. I hope it's something as easy as that. Good luck!

So far, so good

I followed your advice and so far no problem. So far, so good. This seems like a simple answer to this problem. Both Norton and Microsoft should addredss and solve the problem. Thanks again for your advice.

Best to you in the coming New Year.

I am so glad it worked for you! Check your system restore settings too. After I removed Norton, I couldn't restore my computer or set a restore point. I had to go under Start -> Services, find "Volume Shadow Copy" ...right click... Properties... change startup type to "automatic" then go under the "dependencies" tab and enable all the services listed there in the same manner. There were several services that I had to enable to get my computer running smoothly again, (like the Windows Installer), so I think your best bet is just to enable most Windows services. I discovered all this after fooling around with my computer for months, so you may not have the same issues. Anyway, glad I could help. :)
