I tried it on my XP home computer ....don't know if it was that app or Revouninstaller in 'hunter mode' ..both used the same day, that caused my XP to lose MBR
Re-install was necessary!

Nothing makes your pc faster except new hardware. That said, using the built in Windows tools is a good idea. Use sageset for weekly disk cleanup and run defrag weekly. No other junk apps.
I don't have W7 64 bit but CCleaner works fine on my Vista64 Home Premium SP1.
I use CCleaner to clear Recycle Bin, cookies, temp files and other crap. I only clean the registry on occasion such as if I notice I uninstalled a bunch of apps I'm not likely to reinstall and they left crap behind. The other thing to beware of is some software licenses install registry info and running a cleaner can provoke re-entering the license info and/or connecting to the server to have it send the info back to the program so it can put it in your registry again. No big deal if you know what to expect. But I had a newsreader that kept timing out on the "7 day trial" because I was regularly running a reg cleaner. Just a pain because it seemed like it always happened at an inopportune moment. I have to remember to enter the license key right after a reg clean so that I dont get surprised 7 days later.
