BOth xp and windows 7 on same workgroup. Using a Linksys router.

I can access the Xp computer from the windows 7 computer, but cant access the windows 7 computer from the XP computer.

On the XP computer, I go to My Net Places and click view workgroups.

It shows both computers, but when I double click on the windows 7 computer, it says the network share is not available contact administrator.

I have all permission on the windows 7 computer [the shared folder] set to full control for everyone.

Any suggestions.

If I recall right you have to uncheck the "easy or simple" (something like that) file sharing on the XP box (Windows explorer properties). Only then it will work..with Win7

Well all that stuff is done and it still wont work. I can go from windows 7 to xp but not from xp to windows 7.

I have the same setup at my house and it works fine. At my house I have a wired router.

The problem described is at a friends house and he has a wireless router. Could that be causing the problem

It still sounds like a settings issue. Let's see if we can tweak them a bit more...

This is the official Microsoft guide to cross-version networking, read the whole thing and make sure all your settings are correct: Networking home computers running different versions of Windows

The video on that page is also pretty thorough. Check it out and we'll go from there. Thanks for your patience :)
