Flash not working

Hi,

Since I installed Win7, I can't get any newer flash sites to work. I have reinstalled flash and made sure that I have the most recent release, but most sites still say "you do not have the required flash" or whatever.

Any thoughts would be super appreciated. (I'm dying due to a lack of online TV.)

What Internet Browser are you using ?
Have you tried other Browsers like Google Chrome/Safari/Firefox etc. to see if you get the same results ;)

I primarily use Firefox, but I have tried internet explorer as well and get the same problem.

I need more info what happens say when you go to youtube does it say you need to install flash or does it just not do anything .

Disk Cleaning

are you using a disk cleaner of some sort I have seen issues with cleaners wiping out flash

I am not using a disk cleaner.

YouTube flash is actually working. It seems to be more advanced flash sites. For example: watch.ctv.com or veoh will not work. Possibly something like flash version 5 (*purely example) is working but not version 8.

When I go to watch.ctv.ca, I get the following message:
"Express install is not supported by this version of the flash player. To upgrade please visit..."
Again, reinstalling has not yielded any success.

I think you may need shockwave in addition to the regular flash player try that

Hi Kwit7, Welcome to SF,

The best way i would recommend would to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control using Adobe uninstaller from their website How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control then download the latest we have a great sticky thread by Shawn http://www.sevenforums.com/browsers-mail/311-latest-version-adobe-flash-player.html

Once you do that if you have a Firewall it would recommend to add the Flash executable file to their exception list.

Problem solved!

I had previously re-installed flash, but this time I tried uninstalling all other flash related programs using revo uninstaller. I'm not exactly sure which program was causing the problem, but it might have been a Flash 8 encoder that was somehow interfering. I wouldn't have thought that this would cause a newer flash program not to work, but here we are.

Back to the distracting glory of online TV. Thanks so much CaptJackSparrow and computersplus for your help.
