How does the latest leaked build of Windows 7 (7048) compare to the beta 1 (build 7000), Vista SP1 and XP SP3 in terms of performance? According to my Hardware 2.0 inbox, this is a question that you want answered. Let’s see if I can answer it for those of you who are interested!

Note: Before I go any further I feel I need to make a point, and make it clear. The builds I’m testing of Windows 7 (build 7000 and 7048) are beta builds, and as a rule beta builds are usually more geared towards stability than performance. That said, the performance of this build should give us a clue as to how the OS is coming along.

Windows 7 build 7048 vs. Windows 7 beta 1 vs. Vista vs. XP performance shootout - which is best? | Hardware 2.0 | ZDNet.com

He compared 32 bit XP and Vista to 64 bit builds of Win7. I'd be interested to see a pure 64 bit comparison and a separate one for 32 bit.

nice find! se7en FTW! would've liked to see a 32-bit 7048 included but it's nice news anyways.

I agree with you Dragonfly. I think the results are pretty unanimous though, Windows 7(Beta) has better performance than XP and Vista. I'm excited that we are getting better performance out of a beta piece of software, which means full release will be even faster.

The haters will still say the results were rigged until someone does a true comparison of XP64 SP3 vs 7XXX Win7 64. (and likewise for the 32 bit counterparts).

I'll show this to people that said me before that I'm crazy because I always say that Windows Vista is better than Windows XP in the appropiate hardware, so they can shut up their mouths.

Windows XP is pretty obsolete to use in new hardware, but if you have an oldie Pentium 4, Windows XP (compared to Vista) is better. But some people can't still say to other people that are mad just for saying that Windows Vista is better in some ocassions than XP.

I think that compare x86 with x64 editions is unaccurate, but still, nice comparison. ;)
