Can I add back right click drive or folder to search?

In Win XP I used to be able to right click a drive or a folder /directory and it would bring up a menu of options, one of which would be to search for files or folders. Now with Win 7 I have to move my mouse all the way top the top right corner to be able to search. This is a lot of time and effort. It tires me out and is boring (LOL). Is there a way to add the search function back to the right click menu? I also liked the way the prior search options /filters were shown below (ie, date and size)

Welcome to 7 Forums.

You can set it to automatically type in the search box for the open folder. In window explorer, Organize/Folder and Search Options/ View Tab. The selection is at the very bottom.

I tried your solution and I don't immediately see what it did. However, I did a internet search and came up with this info on a problem with Vista at the following link: Add Context Menu Search Back to Vista SP1 I tried this for Win 7 and I got my right click search menu option back. This involves a registry edit and as always there is a risk involved with doing that. I made a registry backup of this parameter and in any case, simply renamed it with a note that I did it. I guess if you use a third party search program this change may interfere with it. In order for the folder options idea work, you have to first click in the rt. hand window in windows explorer. Then when you start typing, it will go into the search box at the top right.

It doesn't exactly give me what i had or wanted, but it does show the "search" option in the right click menu regardless of whether I am in the left or the right windows explorer pane (except for the drive itself - that is, only for folders. but it does pop the cursor into the search parameter box and it seems to add a further filter: type of file. It does the main thing I wanted which is to quickly and easily move the cursor in the search box. I can live without the "back" or "search in more places", etc. options.
