the trouble or Caveat with this is that it won't really help if you are running an X-64 bit version of W7 -- this is due by design in Ms making W32 drivers not runnable on X-64 systems.
On an X-86 system you'll probably get something to work but even here not in every case -- for example Sony Minidisc recorders - the application Simple Burn which rips a CD directly to a Minidisc won't work on W7 (or even Vista) -- but works fine in XP - even in a Virtual Machine.
