I have tried numerous potential fixes (close to 20 tries so far), but keep coming up with the same error message after installing itunes (9.0.2, 64-bit). I have a new machine with windows 7 (64 bit), a brand new ipod, but I do have a library of songs from a previous ipod. My Computer sees the ipod, but when I open iTunes I get the following message "The software for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?" I click yes, and then another window pops up after a bit which says "The software required for communicating is not installed correctly. Please install iTunes to install the iPod software." The apple driver appears to be installed but something seems to be causing a blip in the installation. Any thoughts? Two apple technies couldn't help.

Have you tried the iPod with another machine, or another iPod on this computer?

I don't have another machine to try to install iTunes on, and the software doesn't install properly so our original iPod doesn't work either in iTunes. I have read through lots of suggestions and tried most, but nothing seems to be working. Still believe it has to be something is interfering with installation as the error comes up as soon as iTunes gets opened.
