I recently bought a Sony Vaio with Windows 7 installed. I decided to transfer several files from my server which I had backed up in preparation for the new laptop.
Unfortunately I ended up transferring my fonts folder which contains more than 10,000 fonts. These got installed into my new fonts folder and this has caused the laptop to slow down anytime I want to use text or fonts (pretty much anytime then).
I thought that deleting the fonts would be easy and would solve the problem, but no matter which fonts I try to delete, Windows won't let me because it claims the file is in use. The tip is to close down any applications that is using the font to enable me to delete it. BUT I have never used the fonts and can't understand how they are being used. Could anyone help or offer advice on how to offload the fonts to bring the speed of my laptop back to standard?
