removing Win 7 and multiboot option from 2nd HD

I have a slight variation on the other posts on removing win 7 from a dual booted system. I am running Win XP Pro SP2 on one hard drive. On a completely separate drive, I am running Windows 7 Pro. I can rid of the windows 7 install completely - easy, just reformat that drive.
The remaining issue is the dual boot - I don't need that any more. I have looked at these sites plus the forums and no luck fixing this:
Uninstall Windows 7 on a multiboot system
How to Uninstall and Remove Windows 7 or Vista Leaving Windows XP on Dual Boot System My Digital Life
and
How to edit the Boot.ini file in Windows XP

my boot.ini file looks like only win xp is there: here is the content
;
;Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
;Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options.
;
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT

but the dual boot comes up every time.
Can anyone please help me get rid of the dual boot option?

THANKS

Hi Mary.

You seem to have the 7 boot files on the XP partition . It appears what you are getting is the 7 boot menu.

There are a number of ways to solve that.

You could simply use a bootable file transfer wizard - such as the one on the free FREE Paragon Rescue Kit Express and delete the bootmgr file and the yellow boot folder from the XP partition. ( Boot the cd - select normal mode >File transfer wizard -browse the drive - rt click and delete what you want to remove. )

Alternatively , put the 7 dvd in the drive , and at the command prompt ( or run command ) type:

dvddriveletter: \boot\bootsect /nt52 all /force

then press enter.

Or , boot the 7 dvd to system recovery options command prompt and simply type:

bootsect /nt52 all /force

then press enter.
