Brand new computer. All hardware is bought new. So I installed Windows 7 64 on my new PC for the first time. I've had numerous BlueScreens.

I've attached all the minidump files I've got so far, and all I'm asking is for someone to analyze them for me before I try to reinstall Windows. I really want to know where the error comes from. I'd really appreciate it and would save a lot of time. I've tried to use Windbg to analyze the .dmp files myself, but I'm not familiar with the program and don't really have the expertise needed.

I've had two different BlueScreen types so far:
  • "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"
  • "Page Fault in Non Paged Area".

The BSoD usually happens when I'm playing Heroes of Newerth, it seems to happen at a random point of the game. I once had the BSoD appear right before completing an installation of another game.

I've checked all my drivers, and according to Windows Device Manager, they're all up to date!

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64

List of hardware:
  • 1.00 497731 CyberLink DVD Suite 7, 6Channel, OEM CD for XP/Vista/Windows 7
  • 1.00 386361 ASUS P5Q SE2, P45, Socket-775 DDR2, ATX, GbLAN, ICH10, PCI-Ex(2.0)16
  • 1.00 420765 Intel Core? 2 Quad Q8300 Quad Core, 2.5Ghz, Socket 775, 4MB, 95W, 1333Mhz,
  • 1.00 485788 Gainward GeForce GTS 250 1GB PhysX CUDA PCI-Express 2.0, GDDR3, DVI, native-HDMI, HDCP,
  • 1.00 494479 Lite-On DVD+RW burner IHAS124-19 SuperAllWrite, 24x8x16DVD+RW, SATA, Black
  • 1.00 346195 Corsair Value S. PC5300 DDR2 4GB Kit w/two matched Value Select 2048MB
  • 1.00 430708 Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-300, 16MB, 7200RPM
  • 1.00 301248 CNet Wireless-G PCI 54 Mbps 802.11g, WPA/AES/WPA2, RP-SMA

Please take a look at the Minidump files. And if you need any more information, I'll be happy to provide it. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: The RAM was the problem. I've replaced the 5300 RAM units with my old 6400 units and it seems to work now. Thank you everyone.

Could someone who knows more about BSODs than me please correct/confirm this?

Try opening an elevated command prompt and running sfc /scannow.

Hi and welcome

Wow, quite a few crashes. There appears to be several sources to your problems. The following drivers are listed as the probable causes. Atapi.sys, ataport.sys, dxgmms1.sys, fltmgr.sys, ndis.sys, and others.

Most of these bugchecks do have one thing in common. They all are related to memory.

So lets take a look at the memory first
download memtestx86 and run for 5 passes (yes it will take a long time) but we want to start eliminating possible causes and memory is the most likely culprit.

Then\run a system file check to verify and repair your system files
type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow
at the end of sfc you will see a report and let us know what the results are.

If you are overclocking STOP
If you have a RAID, up date its driver

Thanks for the help!

Does the scan tell you anything?

I am not overclocking.

This may seem like a very stupid question, but how do I know if I have a RAID? And how can I tell if it's up to date?

Thanks again!

Running memtestx86 at the moment. It's been running for hours. Found 2 errors so far according to the top statistics view.

But check this out..
A friend of mine found something out.

My motherboard: ASUS P5Q SE2, P45, Socket-775
May not support my RAM: Corsair Value S. PC5300 DDR2 4GB

According to the site where I bought the PC, the motherboard only supports the following RAM speeds: PC2-6400, PC2-9600, PC2-8500

My ram is: PC-5300.

Source
Motherboard: Komplett.no - ASUS P5Q SE2, P45, Socket-775
Ram: Komplett.no - Corsair Value S. PC5300 DDR2 4GB

Could this be the problem? Seems silly, since I bought the PC "ready" from the store. With their own pre-made hardware set-up. Well guess there is a compatibility flaw in their set-up.

yes and you have full recourse as it's not working properly and they have built it out of spec

So you can confirm that the motherboard doesn't support the RAM? =)

I actually have 2x DDR2 1024 6400 RAM units here, I'm going to install them and report back if it fixes the problem.

6400 should work with the MB just fine.

Alright. The problem seemed to be the RAM, as I've ran the PC on with the new 6400-RAM units for a while now without problems. Guess I'll have to live with 2GB RAM for a while.

Thank you everyone!
