Sony Vaio VGN-FZ140E Motion Eye and SD Card Reader

Hi,

Since I've upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit from Vista, the webcam and sd card reader that are built into my laptop will not work. I have searched for drivers on the Sony site and they have not worked, and I have also downloaded some Ricoh drivers but to no avail.

I wonder if anyone knows the solution to get my webcam and sd reader back in action.

Thanks!

Thanks! Memory card driver worked great.

However for the webcam, I am still having some issues. I followed the instructions from http://www.ralphg.com/public/Webcam-readme.txt and my webcam is now recognized from my computer. The only problem is that my webcam screen is black; I didn't download the 'spic' driver from the website in your sig since my model is not listed; is that what is causing the black screen?

Thanks

9. Ricoh (Sony VGP-VCC4) camera driver 6.1008.207.0:

ftp://download.sony.com/US/pc/SODCAM-12842500-US.EXE

Extract the downloaded exe file using Universal extractor software with the default settings. From the device manager go to Imaging devices, click "USB video device" and right click to update the driver by browsing to the extracted driver folder.

10. Sony image filter driver 1.1.7.4020 (only needed for Vaio camera capture utility-optional)

ftp://download.sony.com/US/pc/SODOTH-01099809-US.EXE
Use the method in step 9 to extract and run the driver installer.

I run windows 7 32 bit and just installed the 32 bit drivers from the original drivers package on VAIO : Sony Europe
There was a file in Camera Driver (Ricoh) 6..211F - 6.1004.211.0_logo called DPInst32 and DPInst64 the latter of which which may help those on the 64 bit version.
After a bit of time and the post on this site i have my VGN-FZ21 Z fully running with no problems following an upgrade from Vista home to Windows 7 professional 32 bit. I tried the 64 bit version but problems with the NVIDA graphics made me happier with 32 bit. I think the system only accepts 4gb of ram anyway so with 32 bit recognising 3gb it is a good improvement over vista. Keep at it you will get it all working again.

Memory Card Driver, and you can search the links in my sig for a camera driver.

Thank you, your signature links have been very helpful. Trying to get everything functional on a VGN-FZ140E in Win7 64 also. My only hope is that installing 32-bit drivers or software meant for Vista will not have any negative effects on the computer's performance. Seems alright so far..

try this one from the Driverguide.com site
the original Sony FTP/HTTP links from older posts do not work anymore (Sony seems to have gotten rid of those old drivers :( )
