Show EXIF data as tooltip

When I was using XP I had installed a useful shell extension called Exif Infotip which would show EXIF data if you hovered the mouse pointer over an image file. That doesn't seem to work in Win7. Anybody know of a similar facility that will work in Win7 or even show the Exif data in the file Properties? Thanks for any advice.

Hi rronaldson, welcome to SevenForums.:)

Have a look at the following link, Photo-Freeware.net - Exif Info Tip Download.

It provides link to a download of a version of EXIF InfoTip that is compatible with Windows 7.

Hope this helps.;)

Thanks V3xar. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work in Windows 7. In fact the code is the same as it always has been so I think they've just assumed it will work with Win7 ... unless anybody else has got it to work?

Hi there
I think there used to be a Windows explorer add in which added RAW image files to the Context menu. I used that in XP -- so I don't know if its still around - used to be called RAW viewer or something like that.

I now use Abobe Bridge / Photoshop so the EXIF is always presented .

I know the tooltip is probably what you are looking for but these days there are so many different Camera RAW formats it's probably not easy to extract the EXIF info in every case.

There is however a piece of freeware called irfanview --this might be suitable for what you want.

Download IrfanView

Cheers

Thanks Jimbo45. I do have programs which show EXIF data. I guess I was a bit spoiled with the convenience of the old Infotip I used in XP. It was not especially RAW files that I was looking at but I agree that there are very many different RAW formats around. I've played around with RAW images from various cameras but I'm not sure I want to use them for most of my pictures.
