Photo Screensaver hangs for a minute

This is a pretty annoying problem. When my Photos screensaver (its the Windows 7 Photo Screensaver) is on and I move my mouse or hit a key to turn off the screensaver and go back to my desktop the picture that was on the screensaver last freezes on the screen. I can see the the taskbar and can click on any open programs but they don't pop up. The mouse cursor shows the spinning working cursor. And after minute the screensaver picture finally goes away and I can access my desktop and programs.

Anyone else experience this and figured out a fix? Thanks!

Hi winterwolfes,

Check out this thread: Windows 7 is extremely slow to return from screen saver mode.

Does that describe the same problem you're having? You might want to try some of the solutions mentioned there. Let us know if you get anywhere with that, and we'll be happy to help you if not.

Cheers,

Its difficult to trouble shoot. It only happens when the screen saver has been running for a while. I'll need a lot of time to be able to go through all the different services and see if its some third party app causing it.

The trouble didn't start until I ran a windows update a month or so ago. The update included a drive update for my nvidia graphics card. I have not been able to roll it back though. I've since disabled auto updating. I shouldn't have had it set to begin with. Oh well.

Thanks.
