Hello,
Just put my new system together.
CW03 case with LCD
790fx board with ATI 5870 Graphics card.

I have reformatted and updated all drivers.

I've searched but I see alot of Nvidia related threads. When I watch TV in 7MC there is alot of flickering (flashing, it gets bright and dim). It's constant. Seems to happen more on HD channels. When I preview the same channels with HDHR previewer app,, there is no flicker at all.

Any help is appreciated. Thxs !!

T0r0,

Would you please go ahead and fill in the hardware section on your profile and be as specific as possible. It can be very helpful, especially as others may have your same hardware.

Hardware section filled out. Any ideas ??

This may be worth ashot looking into. Hope it helps:

I’m receiving a flickering video image using my WinTV product installed on a Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P motherboard?

To correct the flickering video issue, from the BIOS, disable the "C1E Support” option and restart the system.

" disable the "C1E Support” option "

Sadly this did not have any noticeable effect. :(

Any other ideas ?

Same problem! I think it's Windows 7's fault

I have noticed this problem too.

I had it on my last machine with a different brand of tuner...now I have a new machine (new everything) and a different tuner... it still flickers.

However, when I use WinTV 7 it works fine without flickering.

I really want to use Media Center... there's got to be some way to fix this.

Anyone?

When watching Windows Media Center "Live TV" it is always recording the video on your hard disk.

Verify this by using the << (Fast Reverse) control at the bottom of the window.

If anyone knows how to get WMC to just transfer the video from the tuner to the screen, please tell me how.

Perhaps I need to spoon feed the my comment to you.

Video drop outs in WMC may be caused by the extra task of transfering the video stream to both the hard disk and the display.

If you don't understand or don't think that is your problem or cannot see WMC hammering on your hard disk, then no reply is ever necessary.

Actually, you're all wrong. I solved it. Go to CCC

Catalyst Control Center and turn off the dynamic contrast setting on the advanced tab.

Voila! You're good to go!

I'm experiencing the same problem mentioned in the OP. I don't have "Catalyst Control Center" so I can't apply the fix that worked for the other user. My other computer has the same problem. Neither have the problem when viewing the channel using HDHR View, only when using Media Center. The flickering is on the recordings. The flickering is in sync across both computers if the video is actually in sync. I am a Verizon FIOS customer. SD channels are fine. Many of the HD channels are fine. Some commercials on the HD channels have flickering while others don't.

I found some "auto contrast" settings deep within the menus of the graphics cards. Disabled them. Problem solved. Thanks though.
