Playback (Both Music and Video) stops unexpectedly

Hey,

I recently upgraded my computer from Windows Vista Premium to Windows 7 premium.
Whenever i play music on WMP 12 or Winamp, the song plays for sometime and then randomly pauses....and then starts again on its own. I can't seem to find what causes the problem. Also, I use VLC player to watch Videos and Movies and here too, the video suddenly stops for sometime and then starts again. If i want to restart the song or video again before it starts on its own, i have to the forward or backward on the SEEK bar. Playback then starts again and i have to manually go back to where i was. More than anything its quite irritating when the sound or video randomly stops suddenly. I'd be happy for any help

several things can cause what you descibe.
Virus protection.
Firewalls.
fragmented harddrives.

Take your pick.

Also, from what I have read, disabling virus protection and firewalls is not enough.
They need to be uninstalled for proper testing.

If you have installed a firewall, that would be my 1st guess.

For starters, i use Microsoft Security Essentials as Anti Virus and the Default Windows Firewall. Is the problem being caused because of this.

although my memory isnt the best I believe people were pointing their fingers at Kaspery and Outpost.

Try defragmenting your harrdrive. (an operation best innitiated just before you go to bed)
