Wacom Tablet Driver Not Found

I have downloaded and installed the latest driver for my Intuos3 Graphics Tablet and it works until I reboot, then it does not work.
Checking the Wacom Tablet Properties in the Control Panel, I'm advised that the "Tablet Driver was not Found".
What am I doing wrong?
It worked just fine in XP!

Uninstalled all Wacom drivers and installed an older version (6.05.7) and it's working just fine.
Advice is to avoid the current version (6.12) as it seems to be problematic!

I had the same problem with Intuit3. Under "Devices and Printers", I right-clicked on the PTZ icon to "Tablet Preference File Utility", "Remove all User Preferences". Voila, the tablet came back to life.

6.1.4-3 (17JAN10)

........and so far, it seems to be performing without any problems.

Wacom PTK-440; was working fine with fresh install of Windows 7 x64. Just today it stopped working. Removed USB and reinserted, nothing. Reinstalled driver, nothing. Did what you suggested (which I would not have tried), and it immediately came right back. Removing the settings worked just fine.

Thanks.

All was well with the latest drivers and now suddenly the pen 'click' function has stopped working.

I've removed and reinstalled the driverr, removed the preferences via the Wacom Utility and it's still dead.

All other aspects of the pen/tablet are OK.

I have two tablets and both pens have the same problem and both mice works just fine.

Any idea was other Windows settings might effect the Wacom settings?

I'm having the same problem with my Cintiq 21UX even running the latest 614.3 driver. Sometimes I restart and the driver will be operating, sometimes it isn't. I can't figure out the specific "what is it" that is causing the issue.

Also, I don't have a PTZ icon nore a Tablet Preference File Utility in my "Devices and Printers"

A Wacom Tablet Properties icon shows up in my control panel, but when I click on it when the Wacom isn't working I just get a "THE TABLET DRIVER WAS NOT FOUND" dialog box. This of course works fine when the tablet is magically found.

It pains me to say that I never had this issue on Vista. This issue is beating me up pretty bad with the project I'm working on. Any feedback/ideas would be greatly apreciated!

Just a quick reply to my reply...if I go to "Services" and select "TabletServiceWacom" and click on "restart this service" it seems to bring it back for that session.

I've put the problem to Wacom and if I receive a solution, I'll post it here.

Problems too

Hi Everyone, my cintiq 12wx stopped working as well. I can still use it as a monitor but it's not accepting any inputs.

The strange thing is that it seems to work fine when I have to enter my password to log in but after that point, it stops working.

I updated to the latest Windows 7 drivers. I tried restarting the TabletServiceWacom properties... It still doesn't work.

I have Windows 7 x64.

Anyone have any other ideas?

I have Win7 x64 and a Wacom 12wx tablet giving me the same error message- what I did which seems to work for me is go to Control Panel>Tablet PC Settings>under Display, click Setup, and just hit Enter to go through and tell Windows there is no pen capable monitor on your system. then OK out of it. Soon as I did this, for me the Wacom worked like a champ again.

Fix involving msconfig

Had the same problem with my Cintiq 12WX not working after restarting. It didn't start doing this until about a month after installing Windows 7. I'm not sure what the trigger was but I think it may have had something to do with me playing around with the tablet features in Windows 7 to see if I liked it or not, so I suspected that's what was interfering.

Anyway, this fix worked for me:

Reinstall the Wacom driver again so the tablet works (no need to uninstall the driver, in fact I'm not even sure if this step is necessary). Load msconfig, go to the Services tab, find the "Tablet PC Input Service" (sorting the services alphabetically will help you find it easier), and then hit the checkbox to disable it. Restart. Tablet should work.

Of course if you actually use the tablet PC features then this won't be the fix for you, but it's straightforward, got rid of the offending service, and also removed some features that got in the way.
