Many services "terminated unexpectedly" at random times

Hi all,

I'm running windows x64 pro and in my event logger, I keep seeing the same services being "terminated unexpectedly". All these services terminate at the same time and seems to terminate randomly. Here are the services that terminates:

Windows audio service
DHCP client service
Windows event log service
Homegroup provider service
TCP/IP netbios helper service
Security center service

After a while these services restarts and everything seems normal.

I ran a scan with Norton internet security 2010 and no virus were found.

Try turning off the security center. Good chance that is the source of the problem.

You should use Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes. Have been very few if any problems experienced by members of this forum. Even if your Security Center is not the cause of your problems, the aformentioned software will use less resources and protect you at least as well.

I am also experiencing the same issues, with the exact same services failing at random times.
Mine is more or less a fresh install of Windows as I only built the system a couple of weeks ago, although I have Kaspersky Internet Security and not Norton, so I doubt that was causing it.

Did you ever find out what the cause of the problem was?

My issue was inadequate air flow inside the case. Although temperatures of major components[cpu,gpu,mb] looked fine, when I put a fan blowing towards the memory the problem occured less often. Since then I have upgraded to a new case and the problem never reappeared.

That's a very strange resolution, but I trust it worked and in some ways it makes sense.

I'll try and sort some more cooling out in my case, and considering I have 8GB RAM in 4 separate sticks, that may be the cause of the problem. The RAM does have heat spreaders on each stick (Kingston HyperX), so maybe the heat just needs blowing away!

I'll update once I have the problem sorted, so to benefit other people.

I know this is an old thread, but I also seem to have this problem and there was very little useful info online about this. Thought the issue was related to SP1 because it seemed to start after I installed SP1 and seemed to stop after I restored my system to before the SP1 install. But the problem came back. I did find this info which seems to be on point, so I thought I'd share in case anyone else ran into this and went looking for info. The Windows Event Log service may crash in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2
