Hello all!
Ok so i have been doing this for years but this one has me stumped..lol

I have a Acer machine, it had vista. I decided i wanted to try Windows 7 and fell in love. It is currently in it's own partition on the same drive as the Vista build.

They both boot fine and i recently upgraded to a release version of 7 ultimate.

Now i want to delete my acer partition so i can use that space for my 7. I have already got back up disks and i have saved anything that was important on my 2nd hard drive.

The problem is none of the programs i have tried will allow me to delete the vista partition it only gives me shrink options.

I also downloaded Partition wizard and checked but my Windows 7 partition and it can not be set as active i can only activate/deactivate my Acer(vista) partition.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Logan

Hi Logan -

Use Partition Wizard bootable CD which gives more options and rescue ability.

If Win7 will still not offer Modify>Set Active, try deleting Acer partition first.

Then rightclick Win7>Modify>Set to Active, OK.

Now rightclick Win7>Resize>drag left grey border all the way to the left over deleted Acer partition space, OK.

If it all looks correct, then Apply steps.

Win7 will not boot now. Instead boot into Win7 DVD, select Repair on second screen, click through to Recovery Tools list to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots to write MBR to Win7.

As resizing operations can fail, make a Win7 backup image stored externally first so you can start over if necessary, and always back up your files.
