Windows Could not search for new updates

Windows 7 64bit

i just got a flag at the bottom stating that there was an imprtant update and it wont let me update anything and i dont know why any ideas?

Do you have that your updates are all automatically download and installed?
It may have downloaded and installed.
Go onl;ine to the Microsoft update site and view your history to see what was downloaded.
Another posibility is that you may need to reboot to do the final install of the update.

These are just a few ideas off the top of my head.

Go to Control Panel>>Windows Update>>View Update history

,right click on failure and read details:error code and which hotfix you have problem

Really don't you have any error code?
