Laptop goes into Sleep mode, not Hibernate

I had a problem with my laptop trying to recover from hibernate mode ("Your computer can't come out of hibernation. Status 0xc000009a") and on researching the issue I decided the hiberfil.sys file was probably corrupted.

So I used command prompt and typed "powercfg -h off" then did a disk cleanup (using CCleaner) then defragged the drive. Rebooted. Then re-enabled hibernate by typing "powercfg -h on".

Made sure all my power management settings were correct, and I had it set to hibernate when I close the lid of my laptop- but it goes into sleep mode.

Any ideas?

I suggest opening a command prompt and running powercfg -availablesleepstates.

Make sure hibernate is not one of the unavailable options.

You can also try toggling the settings. Switch the lid close action to sleep, and then turn it back to hibernate.

Hi there Jonathan_King, I tried doing what you said. But the message I got is show the attached file named 1. I also tried going into safe mode and then trying to enable/disable hibernation, the message I got is in the file named hibernate. I have been having alot of issues because of this. I read in one of the other forums that it might be due to lack of updated video driver, but my video driver is up to date. For me, whenever I try to hibernate, it locks itself. I am going really crazy, having to re-boot it all the time. IT would be great if someone can help me with anything.

Thanking You,

Siddhant
