Hello Friends

I want to point out something why Microsoft launching too many versions of win7 . all beta versions r confusing or its a new marketing style of Microsoft.
if they have an expert team (all engineers) etc. then why they confuse us by launching too many beta versions. simulteniously. if they want to test there versions in between public then after launching v7000 they stop suddenly. and after one month the launches too many beta versions . why ?

They don't publish many versions, there are leaks and we download them.

In reality, Microsoft has:
- Beta 1
- RC1
- RC2 ?
- Final

So far they have released one beta. Had they wanted to release all the other builds they certainly could have and would have had far more testers.

They would condemn the leaking and downloading of the other builds if it didn't benefit them. The truth is the best advertising for MS is "word of mouth" and sites like this. All these builds of the beta are just testing the waters to see what people are saying and how the new product is being received. It's good for MS.

Totally agree with you. Although I do firmly believe there should be a gaming edition readily available. It's not like it would be laboured over as all they would have to do is add a few bits. There are a lot of pc gamers now that hardware and software has really took off. They should cut some of the other builds out though.

They do condemn these leaks if you ask them. They aren't going to condone downloading illegal torrents. They just aren't doing anything to stop them which they easily could if they wanted. They're getting what they want, we're getting what we want.

That's what I meant....they will condemn it publicly but when Steve goes home at night...he's loving all the buzz about the new OS. They have come up with a good product and we are all going to want to buy it. They are letting the "illegal" system work for them. One of the few cases where it works.

If you think this is the first time this has happened....

I was testing XP 'illegitimately' for over a year before finally getting an official test.

With Vista aka Longhorn, I didn't jump on the bandwagon until Vista was in Beat 1 status. However, ask all the testers that used Longhorn for up to 2 years before official public beta testing began....

Sites like BetaNews keep posting beta results of applications left and right, as well as final results. For example, I am currently using Virtual Clone Drive 5.4.2.8 Beta, and up until an hour ago, I was using a Beta version of DisplayFusion (3.0.3 is ow final).

This is not a new strategy - widespread beta testing for the public has been around for longer than a decade, and M$ is not "just now" cashing in - they have been there in the middle of the thick of things since close to the beginning....

Yes, I know. I meant this is not MS's first OS relaese. They know how to market. Things have changed a lot since Vista's release and we can all agree it's changed beyond imagination since the 2001 XP release. I think with torrents and other tech...there are a lot more people with access to these .iso files and it may make the RTM of 7 bigger than it would have otherwise been.

They do work right, you'll never get an OS that's perfect and anyone who ever expects one to show up will always be disappointed.
There's too much complexity in an OS, even all the way back to 3.1 days. Even when 3.1 was the new kid, the technology of the day was considered "complex" and all you can ever ask of your OS is that it's continually upgraded with SP's during it's lifetime.

With today's tech, these OS's are barely controllable Monsters, just waiting for the slightest opening to squeeze out of, that's why so many builds as every single change can wreak havoc on other parts of the OS. So this goes back to the OP as to why there are so many builds, there will be 100's of builds compiled by MS engineers, sometimes a couple a day as they work out as many kinks as possible and every single one will produce new problems to fix. It's not MS releasing them either, these are leaked from their trusted testers and OEM testers and NOT from MS themselves. I also agree that MS is Loving all the hype this is creating and that's why they have no intention of cracking down on unofficial leaks...this is the Best free advertising they could ever hope for!

You have the option to not install each version that keeps getting leaked, I for one love each time a leak is released. If Microsoft is legitimately releasing it, Sweet. If they aren't legitimately releasing it, still sweet! I just love getting each and ever version I can to keep testing. These releases aren't meant for the regular Joe. If you want to beta test the product, do it, if not don't install them. As a side note, this shouldn't be used on a production system! Allow me to eat my own words, cause I'm using Win 7 on 4 production systems and love it, but I run the risk of it screwing something up and being my fault and not Microsofts.

Right- it is called Marketing. They *really* want a turnaround from the Vista - so they are 'leaking' builds left and right to get more and more people talking about, using, and spreading the word about Windows 7. Come time to go gold, every one will want it, or so they hope.

Who cares, just release something that works right for once..............Win7 may finally be it, time will tell.

I am a legit beta tester of all sorts of apps - so I get the builds b/c I want to see what is different, find things that are broken, and have my voice (amongst the millions) heard to help the company see that what *they* think is logical and correct is not necessarily the case with the public.
