I'd like to know how to 'turn off' (untick the ghosted ticked tickbox) the "use aero peek to preview the desktop" as displayed in the 'Taskbar and Start Menu Properties' pane. I don't use aero and suspect this shouldn't be ghost ticked.

Hello Wguru,

Double check using OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to make sure that the Enable Aero Peek box is checked. If you do, then check in each option to make sure that Aero Peek is on or enabled. Afterwards, it should not be grayed out anymore.

Hope this helps,

Thank you for your kind reply's suggestion, but I tried that already and the checkmark for , still is seen when right clicking the desktop's lower right corner icon (next tto the clock).

It seems that regardless that I've turned off aero, unghosting the tick box and unticking it, Win7 seems to be determined to re-tick it.

I'm left believing that this is one of thise things like when users don't want to use WMP and 'we' untick WMP from add-remove programs list, many file xtns still display the WMP icon ,as well as the default programs list still lists WMP as an option, ie; 'nag-ware'.

As a test, create a new administrator account and see if it works properly while logged on to it.
