I just flashed the BIOS for the above motherboard. My motherboard revision is 1.6. As part of the instructions it was recommended i load optimized defaults. Not realising at the time it would change some of the settings i clicked yes.

Can anyone who knows this motherboard recommend some settings to change that I haven't done already.

1) I changed the a drive to disabled as I don't have a floppy drive
2) Boot order i changed to HDD, then cd rom
3) HPET to 64 bit
4) USB Keyboard Disabled
5) USB Mouse Disabled

Should that do it and the rest is automatic or can anyone recommend anything else?

Thanks.

Generally speaking the settings I change are:

Disable onboard audio
Disable onboard Video
((If it has it and using hardware for these))

I also always set 1st boot device as CD Drive (this way it checks if your trying to boot from a disk before starting Windows)
2nd Boot device HD
SATA Mode AHCI
HPET 64bit
No Floppy

Also, if I were you, after the flash and setting to Optimized defaults, let it boot back to Bios and then power down completely.
Then start up and make the changes you need too.

This way, the MOBO actually restarts. Otherwise it just makes changes and keeps running :)
Likely not needed, but the way I prefer to do it.

I forgot to ask, what is AHCI mode and if i change to this will everything boot and work ok?

Will there be a change in performance and do I need to install any other drivers to make this mode work?

If Windows was installed under IDE mode, then no. Changing to AHCI at this point will make it unable to boot.

To make the change now you either have to do a reg. hack in Windows then change it, Or re-install Windows with it enabled.

All Motherboards are different. Some perform better, some worse, others about the same.

I can't remember what windows 7 was installed under. If I did make the change and windows did not boot, would I be able to change again back to IDE and would Windows then boot properly again?
