Prices may be getting affordable on SSD's...

Thinking a few in raid might work nicely. ;)

If I want an SSD I'll go all out for a 1TB model, if its stable, no matter if it costs a couple of thousand.

Don't really see the point. The beauty of the SSD is incredible read speeds and instantaneous access. However, SSD's aren't that incredible when it comes to sustained write speeds. Therefore, for pure storage, mechanical drives seem to be far better suited at the present time since a majority of the time will be spent writing sequential data to the drive.

Then I'll wait. I can't see the point of one drive for some apps, and fat storage for the other.

I also had a hard time going with a 2 drive setup. You will find earlier posts from me and I was very unsure of moving to an SSD and wasn't sure the bang for the buck was there.

However, after purchasing one on a whim (more or less to really see what all the hype was about), I've now changed my mind. It's the best bang for the buck upgrade that most people can make.

Yeah, that's why I had to get one. Got tired of poo-pooing the technology when I didn't really have any real world's hands-on experience with one. Considering how much I had spent on computers in the past, $275 for my Intel X25-M G2 80GB didn't see all that expensive.

After I got mine, 2 other guys at work immediately invested in them as well. None of us are regretting our purchase.

I've had plenty of experience with SSDs in RAID. I've had them in RAID 0, 1, and 10. They work fast and fine. The only brand I've had problems with is an OCZ Vertex and I suspect this was because it was an early SATA II version. I realize people will say to run RAID with SSDs is pointless as it won't increase the speed of the SSDs in 1 and/or 10 but over all, I'd say that my experience has been positive. I run two Kingston Hyper X cards in 0 for gaming and I have to admit when gaming online there are some funny (if not comical) quirks. On the server side of things rebuilding a RAID 1 or 10 card is uber fast. I've only had to do this once and for this I merely did a safe "repair" on the card, popped it back into the cage and viola! business as usual. I suppose it boils down to personal preference but personally I'd rather run SSDs in RAID than clunky SATA or (even SAS) mechanical drives.

NOT ENOUGH ROOM TO LIST ALL HARD DRIVES HERE. Cuts me off at 5. Did you know that if you run a network you can scan your PC for viruses via other PCs using several different virus scanners? No virus scanner gets it all. This is narrows down the window for contracting a virus. By using multiple operating systems you can use different virus scanners with no risk of conflict.
