Win7 and 8600GT driver issue

Hello, just updated my OS from WinXP to Win7, everyhting is great except one thing...

I have nVidia 8600gt 512mb video card. During Win7 installation, win7 installed some drivers, but they arent the ones I need. I have no nVidia control panel, games wont start because of missing dll's related to my GPU...

I downloaded 8600gt driver from nvidia.com, but it doesnt installs on Win7... It runs, I press ''next'', next etc, and then it starts installing. Screen blinks one time and then installation freezes at this moment:



Then I just wait for about 5 min, and then it just gives this error:



and then quits. And I get no drivers...

So then, how to install latest 8600gt driver etc on Win7?

Uninstall the Windows 7 drivers through the Device Manager and restart, you'll have to stop it from automatically installing the drivers again manually when the system comes up by canceling it. Then you'll be able to install the nVidia drivers.

Have you looked at windows update on your pc for any updates for your driver? Sometimes they show up after a day or so? Or have you been to this web site to search for the latest driver from the manufacture?

Thanks for replies! Well, I already tried to uninstall current driver from device manager. When it was done, win7 saw no video card installed, as usually, when there arent any drivers. Then I tried to install driver downloaded from nvidia website, and it failed again with some other error.

Now im downloading driver from myzr7 provided link and gonna test it. If I will fail, then ill try to uninstall driver from device manager again and so on.

When you uninstall the current driver, does Windows load an NVIDIA driver or leave you with VGA?

umm, I guess it leaves me with VGA because after removing driver my resolution changes to 800x600 and in ''right mouse click - screen resolution - advanced settings'' is no video card listed...

Okay, just tried that link from previous reply - the same result - ''System has not been modified.'' Now trying to uninstall driver from device manager and prevent win7 from installing driver automatically after restart... (how to do that? )

Ahh... now I uninstalled driver from device manager and tried to install nVidia driver, got this error:



I guess I need to restart..?

When you've uninstalled it through device manager, let it install the driver, then try. See the link in my sig.

Yeah!!! After uninstalling drivers from device manager, restarting PC, failing to install previously downloaded drivers, Win7 installed needed driver again, but guess what - now I have also nVidia ControlPanel!!! thank you guys
