Sims 2 compatability issue with Windows 7

I have the Sims 2 game but it says its only compatible up to Windows XP. Is there anyway to update it so it will work on Windows 7 ultimate? (When I try to run setup an error message comes up saying "Not compatible with Win32", When I try to run autorun the error message says "a hardware I/O error was reported while accesing D:\AUTORUN\AUTORUN.BMP." ) Please help!

HELP PLEASE!!!
Hi, i have Windows 7 on my laptop and i have borrowed The Sims 2 from a friend to install it.
The Sims 2 installed fine but when i double click on the icon to play it, a message saying "This program has known compatibility issues" pops up. i can either Check for solutions online (which takes me to the sims 2 website to download a patch. i dont know what that is) or i can Run Program. if i click run program, then it goes into the sims 2 but its not full screen :(
if anyone knows how to make the game play with a full screen, or how to fix the compatibility issue, please let me know. it would be much appreciated

Hi Ashie,

Well first try installing the patch (a patch is just a "fix" for any issues the game may have, like the Windows updates you get every month) it is always recommended that you play with the latest patch.

If memory serves me correctly, Sims 2 should play full screen by default. If it doesn't here are a few things to check if you are still having issues after the patch:

1. Go into Graphic Options in the game (click the 3 dots at the bottom then Options, then the thing that looks like a PC screen) see if there is a "Play in Full Screen" option, if there is check it.
2. Right click the Sims 2 Icon, and click properties, check whether under "Path" it says -w or -win at the end, if it does then delete the -w or -win

by the way, you say you have borrowed Sims 2 from a friend. you know when you give it back you won't be able to play it right? because you will need the disk
