Upgraded to Build 7077 - Staticy Sound now

I upgraded (not a clean install) to 7077 today from 7048. I reinstalled the latest Realtek Driver, and my sound is staticy on files played from WMP 12.
I had this issue before on both an upgrade and clean install of 7057, which is why I went back to 7048 among other reasons.

Anybody have a tip, trick, or fix for this? I have tried different sound settings, some are worse than others, but there is static or skipping sound in all media files.

Not a good move to upgrade. These builds are not designed for upgrades and so will not remove the previous files completely.
I recommend you clean install. :)

+1 .....I tried an upgrade ONCE and that's all it took. I had sound problems too. Delayed sound and static. I did a clean install and it worked fine. That was on 7048 so....I think Romulinx is right. (or it's the easiest way to fix this and other problems too)

I bit the bullet, and just got finished with a clean install as well as reinstalling all my apps. Sound is crystal clear now!

I think the torrent was slightly damaged. That, or the sound drivers for your speakers are dysfunctional or junk.

You could download the lates drivers for your sound card. As each passing week/month goes by more & more drivers are being created with support for Windows 7.

If you downloaded from MS, you shouldn't have any problems. Also, you could check to see if the wire is connected properly (I thought I was having the same problem with Vista, and that was the problem).

It wasn't a torrent. I got it directly from MS.
All Audio drivers are up to date.
Tried with 2 different sets of speakers, so it isn't the cord.

The sound it makes is kind of like when you blow the Bass on speakers. Things sound normal untill some sort of bass comes on. Then it rattles.

i don't. tried it on two sets of speakers and played with the tone/bass on both and i just tried it with the speakers built into my flatscreen, still problems. Maybe i'll just go buy a new sound card...

(the one im using is an SB Live! card)

1/ Uninstall all the software for the card
3/ Shutdown PC
2/ Remove the card
4/ Put card back in

Windows will update the drivers, or you may have to find some?

Dont bother with creative products :mad:
