Need HELP with Network Connection Icon...

Hi all,

Recently my Network Connection icon on the System Tray has gone completely insane. The icon is currently showing the "Found possible connections" icon, in other words where the bars are greyed out behind a yellow spot.

But, quite obviously i am on the internet and connected fine. It does not come off this icon now, unless i lose connection completely then the icon with the red cross will appear instead.

I never had this problem when i first got the computer and this has only been like this for about a week or 2. Is there anything i can do to repair this? I have been searching the internet like mad trying to find a fix, but so far i have found nothing.

As a little side note.. i cannot do a "System Restore" or "Windows Backup" because i unfortunately still haven't bothered creating restore points, i think once i repair this i may actually try using these options.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Unless you turned restore points off, they are created by the system when you boot or update. Have you checked to see if you have any restore points?

Hi CarlTR6,

No i do not have any Restore points even created by the computer itself, although my protection for the Local Disk (C:/) is turned On. So there is still absolutely no way of restoring.

The thing is i think this must be something to do with the registry or something, because this change happened when i was fiddling with DNS settings. I was trying to increase connection settings by manually setting my DNS, etc. but it didn't really work, so i just reset everything back to automatically enter its own DNS settings, etc.

Sorry to hear that; it was worth a try. I'll yield to the networking experts here.
