Visit game.amd.com to download the appropriate driver. Install. That's all. Enjoy!

If it doesn't install well by running the .exe, use the device manager to install by right clicking standard vga and choosing update driver software. Browse my computer....Then go along and point it to the driver's extracted folder.

Get the 32 bit Windows 7 Catalyst Suite.

@maxo.
Goto ASUS website and download the driver from there or if the card was supplied by Acer with there desktop try their website. For some reason the ATI Cat drivers don't have your cards Device ID. Usually the 3870 has a DevID of VEN_1002&DEV_9501. Where as yours has VEN_1002&DEV_9500. This is why the ATI's Cat drivers won't install and why Win7 doesn't recognise your card.

I'm guessing its a laptop? My netbooks hardware ID was different from others with its IGP. I just changed one of the IDs in the .ini file to match mine. Works like a charm, but this was again, IGP, so it may have just been that easily tricked.

I'm not sure why your system isn't accepting the ATI drivers. It may have something to do with your onboard SiS 672 graphics. A quick look at the service manual doesn't clearly indicate whether there's a setting to disable the onboard graphics.

Myabe you can manually update the driver? (Go to Device Manager. Open the Display Adapters. Is the 3870 shown? if so, open it, and click on the Driver tab. Click the Update button, and browse to where the ATI drivers were saved; should be an ATI folder on c:.)

IGP is intel graphics processor. But it should all work the same. When you use the installer it extracts the contents to the root folder of the installer. In there, somwhere should be a INI file for the installer.

This is a desktop computer with a PCI-e graphics card, right ?

Do you know how to get into Bios setup during the boot up by usually tapping the DEL key ?

Just look for a section sub menu that MB VGA as seconday or disabled.

PCI-e as Primary Video Display. Save settings & re-boot.

Make sure your video cable is plugged into the video card & NOT the motherboard connectuion.

I am having the almost exact problem, but it does display my other graphics card(ATI Radeon HD 4200). please help and let me know what more info you need. I get to my boot up menu with F2. and did not see anything like what you described.

*Also when I try to open catalyst it says " Cannot start because the currently active GPU is not supported."
