same problem
I ended up installing an old netgear witreless pci card the ma311 card. the drivers for it only went up to xp and the computer didnot recognize the card at first. the wg311t was recognised by the windows 7 and it installed then my computer froze i think that the drivers that the os has in it cause a conflict so i sugges going to the netgear website and getting the xp drivers it my be a solution for the problem.
The minute I removed the wireless card that I used, random freezes gone forever. Friends used usb dongle, they seemed not to have that random freeze problem.

when you decide to go up to 7201+, try your card again, and kindly let us know if your card continues to have the OS perform this way.
