No matter what I do system protection somehow always manages to turn it self back on :mad:

How can I PERMANTLY KILL THIS PROCESS? Is it a service?



I WANT IT GONE FOR GOOD

Turn it off, and keep an eye on it throughout the day. See if you can determine when and what causes it to turn back on.

Ummm,, If VSS is deleted and therefore not running at all.
You could run into some other major issues.

If you ever decide to use any backup utility, you could have problems backing up your data.

Yes, I just thought I would second it.

Windows really is getting to the point where it doesn't need tweeking.
Systems are so fast anymore that the slowest thing in a PC now days is the hard drive and even SSD's are dropping in price and getting larger.. And space isn't a real issue either, as all new PC's come with really big drives.

There is no reason, (imo), to tweek or turn off things in Windows, other than cosmetic reasons.

VSS has nothing to do with cosmetics.

I have an external drive which I backup all my important files with. If my OS does fail I can do a fresh format and install all my drivers. Im not worried, thanks for you concerns... :cool::cool:

System restore is not for user files. It only restores the system. But reinstalling the system (which usually takes at least 1 to 2 days) versus puliing an image in (which takes 30 minutes) is a big difference.
