backup files

been doing a well overdue spring clean and found some back uyp files that have got me a bit confused.
there both on the same drive one is just a symbol and says GC-PC and the image is of a HDD a CD and a green arrow pointing down towards the the disc, properties of this say its a file folder and the size is 78.3GB
the second is a folder and is named "WindowsImageBackup!"
and the size of this is 59.9GB
obviously for space reasons i would like to get rid of one of these they seem to be different backups but are they linked in some way meaning if i delete one the other wont work?

thanks

WindowsImageBackup is the name Windows 7 Backup and Restore gives to a folder where it saves the backups and system images. It contains individual subfolders for every image and backup.

Follow the link Theog gave you if the images and / or backups were created with another computer. If they were created with your current computer / Windows setup, read this tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/628-backup-user-system-files-delete-backups.html

thankyou guys
that link youve posted theog dosent work m8.
i think what it is, the folder that says WindowsImageBackup and contains individual sub folders like youve said Kari is from a different setup on another HDD
and the image's for the setup im on now is the icon that dosent open up like a folder, if i double click on it i get a pop up giving options to do a windows back up.
