When I had vista I could open powerpoint files that came in my e-mail but now I can't with 7. I tried downloading Powerpoint from MS but it is only good for Vista.

Hi there,

Did you download Powerpoint Viewer 2007, from here? If not, do that first. If it still isn't working, set the .exe to run in Compatibility Mode for Vista SP2 and let us know if that helps.

Thanks, I did download it from there and it is compatible with Win 7 but I finally figured out I had to save the PPS files and bring them into PowerPoint Viewer instead of merely trying to open them from my e-mail.

I'm running Win7 Pro, and I have MSPPt 2007 installed with correct associations.

First, I backed up my registry (just in case), then I followed Brink's suggestion (#2) on this page - VISTA :: - and it worked like a charm!

I recently had to have Windows 7 re-installed by Microsoft Tier II Support.

I just noticed that I can no longer open .pps files from Windows Mail. Have to first save them.

I followed the steps above:

1) Installed PowerPoint Viewer 2007 - no change.

2) Followed the steps here: Unable to Open .PPS attachments directly from Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail - The Winhelponline Blog - no change.

3) Went to Microsoft here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13 and installed the newer viewer - no change.

4) Went back to regedit and found that both the .pps and .ppt registry entries had an additional Show command added. I deleted them in the appropriate areas, leaving only the Open and Print commands.

Still not able to open .pps file in Windows Mail.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike
