Can't Close Firefox- Get FF is Running!!!

I am fit to be tied with Firefox 3.6. On my Sony Vaio, Firefox will not open, I cannot even uninstall or reinstall as it says it it running! I have gone to my systems tabs and it does not show it running.

HELP

Is the program available in add/remove programs? Can u try removing perhaps in safe mode. Try removing also with Revo Uninstaller. Very odd behavior.

Windows XP - Now Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit).
I think Kucing13 has the immediate solution. I run FF3.6.3 and once in a while I launch it but nothing happens; relaunch ditto. Look in TM in <APPLICATIONS> tab: no FF. However look in <PROCESSES> tab and there it is. End the process and re launch.

Permanent fix: I have not bothered to fool with it since it happens to me rarely and killing the initial process and relaunching is OK with me.
