Windows 7 RC 32-Bit Install Not restarting

Hey I have been useding and trying windows 7 for some time now but ever seen the RC came out I've been have this problems with restarting as it's installing has anyone else had the same thing happen and any ideas on how to fix it ?

Installer can't restart and cancels installation

I've got a problem where the installer says it needs to restart but fails and stops the installation. Is this what you are experiencing? I'm going from 7000 to the RC

Something like that it just stays at the same screen and dont move if I restart it my self it just dont work.

Are you trying to upgrade or replace any existing installation? Here I've been using the custom option to see everything packed up into the Windows.old folder from any previous install or on a completely new primary to avoid any snags. With the RCs that's the MS recommendation as well.

The only upgrade installation seen here lately was simply to restore the 7 boot screen once the EasyBCD tool used to add in the 32bit RC saw the Vista scroll bar instead. That will still need to be corrected on the 32bit once I get the time for that.

Just install a new copye of it. What I have been doing is each time a new ver comes out I have been installing but the last 3 vers have had this Prob.

Are you burning the iso images to disk or using another method for installation? The only installation problems here so far have been when installing from an rw disk. But even when seeing something incomplete with those the installation still completes itself.

You may have to change methods or the media used even burning program in order to see better working results. This is why the question here was on the method used to see if that's where the problem is being seen.

I am useding a rw dvd but I have also install it on my netbook Samsung NC10 on a usb drive and thats works fine maybe I should try and see if I can do the same though I hear it's harder to do it from a usb drive on a full size pc. Would be cool if Microsoft could sell Winodws 7 in a USB once it's out mind I can see the Probs that would cause.

I myself am attempting an upgrade after modifying the Sources/Cversion file as described by multiple people on the web. I'm installing from a folder that contains the files extracted from the iso.

Is that a usb hard drive or usb flash key? I suspect that's from an external drive. One alternate method is actually "drive less". http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/7943-install-windows-7-fast-without-dvd-usb-device.html

I just buoght a few more for making up Live cds images like GParted live from usb, ubuntu, etc.

The folder with the files in it is on my desktop. Is this not supported and that is why it can't restart?

First off you can't run the installer from any desktop shortcut to a location on the same partition/drive unless mounted on a virtual hard drive. I think this where you are running into problems to begin with.

If they had been unpacked onto a separate partition they wouldn't clashing with the active Windows already running. Then you would be able to see a custom install. The files are actually located in the desktop folder under your user name in "C:\users\user name that you use\desktop" not on the desktop itself.

Ugh, still the same problem after moving the install files to a separate partition. When it is moving Windows files, it flashes a message that it needs to restart and then fails with a message that it can't boot and that nothing has been changed and to restart the installation. I don't want to do a clean install and have to reinstall all my programs, so I guess I'll stay with the beta. Sigh.
