I'm not a fan of toolbars and never had any installed but read that the Google toolbar will stop the "pop unders" so i installed it to try. But, when I access the Dell Community and users forum, Home - Dell Community it's OK when I first access but if I want to display one of the problem posts and do a "right click" to open in new Tab, with the Google toolbar installed I get the "404" page not found error. From there it deteriorates to 404 for any Community page. Dell support Welcome to Dell Support is OK.

I disabled the Google Toolbar and I still had the 404 on the Dell Community so I uninstalled it but had to reboot and after the reboot and Windows 7 startup I could again access the Dell Community and also right click to select "open in new Tab" to look at a problem post.

I then decided to try it again but went through the same problems and process to remove it. No more trying the Google Toolbar, at least with my configuration. Other sites, that I accessed, were OK just Dell Community.

I have Win 7 64 bit Prof and I.E.8

Hope this helps. Very often malware prevents you from going to certain site. These toolbars are notorioius offenders of malware, but not referring to yours specifically.

Run an antivirus scan

Download and run this, I think malwarebytes will solve your problem.

If I am right there is a good probability you cannot access Microsoft, either.

Google has a huge cache of Web sites that allows you to view sites and some of their pages that have been deleted from the original Web server. If clicking on a Google search link yields a 404 or other error, press Backspace, and instead click on the small Cached link (if it exists) at the bottom of the search item.

Having said that, IE8 has a built in search bar (where Google can be set as default search engine) and a built in pop-up blocker.

To turn on the IE popup blocker, open IE, Click the Tools button, and then click Pop-up Blocker. Click Turn On Pop-up Blocker.

To block ALL popups, open IE, click Tools, click pop-up blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings. Under Filter level, select High: Block all pop-ups, and then click Close. You can also set it to Medium to block most popups.
