Hi, I have a little problem with my recorded video from MC7. Here my setup:

Windows 7
Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600 (using S-video Input from a Videotron cable Box)
Hp media center IR blaster

The only Thing that dosent work is the .wtv recorded have Black bar all aroud If the broadcaster send a 16:9 signal in the 4:3 S-video signal...

Here a screen shot Without any Zoom of the MC7 Full screen live tv, witch look the same When Recorded....
http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/2913/fullscreennozoom.jpg

Is there a way to tell MC7 to record only the video part whitout the black bar ?

I have tryed all the Zoom Option They corect the Way I see the video in my 1920 x 1200 lcd monitor. But Wont change the behavior of the recorded video.

I then use MCE Buddy to save some space and skip comercial... But I didint find a config that can help corect my problem. i have tried No resize (witch keep the bar) and a other 640 x 480 Witch is not the good resolution, but cut a bit of the black...

I search every were for a solution without luck... I was playing back on a Pc conected to a 4:3 tube TV, in VGA before now. So I could Zoom with Media player classic . But Now I Bought a 46'' lcd + a Blu-ray player that is DLNA ready witch read file from the computer without any problem and stream it over HDMI.
But now all my old vide have Black bar around... And the Zooming option on the Blue-ray are not solving it... I dont mind keeping the old file like that, but For Now on I would prefer a cleaner solution.

... So many info there, And it's late for me, Hope Its Clear For someone :O)

thank's in advance for all the idea you might have!

Hi and welcome.
I knew another person had similiar problem with their ATI graphics.
Here was the solution

Check your ATI drivers and see if it defaulted to 10% underscan, which would give you the black border.

Here's how I fixed it (for anyone else who has a similar problem):

- Get into your ATI Catalyst Control Center (select Advanced mode)
- Expand the DTV (HDMI) option
- Click on "Scaling Options"
- Drag the "Underscan/Overscan" slider all the way to the right (0%)

Try this and let me know.

If that doesn't work go into MC and setup you your TV by selecting flat LCD monitor instead of Regular monitor or TV. Not sure which.

I have a DVI pannel in 1900 x 1200 @60Hz. There a GPU Scaling option that is OFF in Ati Advance option.

I ran some more test From your idea to change Display. I tried to Set my resolution to full Hd in Ati controle, but it look wrong... I start messing around in Mc7 confing, and I found that you can chose a color for the video background (added black bar)
Here a Pic Of a .wtv recorded with the option of the Background collor beeing 80% black.
WTV_Full_MC7.JPG

So what I conclude is that Mc7 Record .wtv file in 720 x 540, from My (S-video Signal 640 x 480). Here wy I have black bar. When its a real 4:3 tv show, its not a big deal to watch that on My 46'' LCD 16:9. I have black bar on the side, normal.
Fullscreen_no-zoom_4-3.JPG

But If I recorded a show Created In 16:9 but Sended from the cable box In 4:3 640 x 480 on s-video, MC7 Will still record a 720 x 540 resulting of a video with black all around. As I trie to play my receorded file on the tv From a Blu-ray player, it can't Zoom keeping the ratio of the real video part only...
MP4_Full-screen.JPG

Q1: Do you think Its possible to Force Mc7 to record Only 640x480?

Q2: Or even Better Only the Video part ? (a bit like the 2 Zoom option but for the record insted)

Q3: Maybe there a Way to configure MCEBUDDY to Trim the Video at least to 640x480...

Thank's for you quick answer, IggyAZ
