Windows 7 - no internet (though it says there is)

Gateway T5212 Dual Core that had everything working on it.

I've been screwing around, searching for 4 hours, trying to get the internet up on this thing...

It SAYS "Network 2 - Local and internet access" but nothing requiring access has it. Browsers, Yahoo Widgets, nothing works.

The computer I'm typing this on is hooked to the same switch, which then goes into the same router. No problems here.

The switch is a DLink green Ethernet and the router is a Belkin N+ Wireless router, though this computer is wired.

This was an upgrade, and the ethernet card is realtek 8139.

My head is exploding on this deal, so any help would be appreciated.

Click on Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager / nic card /properties
- Expand your network card section and double click on your Realtek network card

Are you trying to connect wireless or wired?

It's possible you need to add the mac address to your router.

Same problem - Temporary solution (for me at least)

I had the same problem after upgrading from Vista Business. My network between PC's worked but no Internet access, even though Win 7 thinks it's there. In the end the only way I could get Internet access is to disable the network adapter under Change adapter settings and enable it again immediately. For some reason it then picks up the network connection correctly. Only snag is I have to do this every single time I start up Windows 7.

I searched some more and stumbled across a regedit that I think accomplishes this:

Welcome to SevenForums Kage87z.... Have you tried this
Click on Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager / nic card /properties
- Expand your network card section and double click on your Realtek network card
- Set "Wake-on-lan after shutdown" to enabled

I'll try and find the line and get it up here, but the problem has stopped.

Thanks for all your replies!

OK... here's what worked for me:

to resovle[sic] this do the following

RUN - regedit

go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENT CONTROL\SERVICES\TCPIP\PARAMETERS\INTERFERANCE\{GUID}
DHCPCONNENABLEBCASTFLAGTOGGLE - set THE value to 1

and

DHCPCONNFORCEBROADCASTFLAG to 0
! be carefull save copy of registry before you modify

ok

if you dont find these flags create it

ok
